Real Madrid faced Chelsea in one more day of the UEFA Champions League, but Marion Reimers, an analyst for TNT Sports and HBO Max, took the criticism.
A comment made by the analyst did not sit well with some tweeters, who criticized her “lack of professionalism.”
Marion Reimers recalled the harassment controversy in which the Real Madrid striker was involved.
In the broadcast of Real Madrid vs. Chelsea second leg Marion Reimers, TNT Sports analyst, recalled the controversy over Karim Benzema and the gesture did not please Internet users at all.
One more day of the UEFA Champions League, the most prestigious club tournament in Europe and, for some, in the world, and without a doubt one of the sporting competitions that generates the most revenue year after year.
As is known, this year the transmission rights of the tournament were left to streaming with HBO Max, although sharing credit with TNT Sportsa fact that speaks of the great importance that the different content platforms are currently gaining and that once again sets its sights on sport for the future.
In this context, Star Plus also added its own sports content, taking over the French, Dutch and Italian soccer leagues, in collaboration with the ESPN network.
Today, however, the subject of the UEFA Champions League returned to the main trends of social networks, where names like Real Madrid, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Villarreal, among others, appeared in the digital pulse conversations.
Marion Reimers recalls controversy over Karim Benzema
However, the name of Marion Reimers, sports analyst for TNT Sports and who is in charge, along with a team of hosts and chroniclers, of narrating the Champions League through HBO Max, slipped back into the trends, but now he did it thanks to a comment he made in full broadcast of the match between Real Madrid and Chelsea.
A few months ago, in October of last year, Karim Benzema, current star striker for Real Madird, was accused of having participated in the creation of a video with sexual content.
The case even went to court, which is why the Frenchman’s future was in doubt, as he could have spent about five years in prison, as well as pay a fine of 75,000 euros (about $87,400).
Taking these data into account, today, during the HBO Max broadcast of the second leg between Real Madrid and Chelsea, the case became relevant after analyst Marion Reimers recalled said controversy.
It all happened when a foul was called on the player when the game had just started. In his comments, the chronicler Raoul Ortiz, better known as “El Pollo”, expressed that Benzema “is not a malicious guy”, to which Marion Reimers responded by saying “It wasn’t for cell phone issues and photos because…”words that refer to the accusation against the Real Madrid striker.
Marion Reimers’ words did not sit well with the tweeting community, who almost immediately condemned what the analyst said, alleging that the context was not conducive to talking about the subject.
what the fuck did you just say @LaReimers ?
What the hell do cell phones and photos (I know what you mean) have to do with Benzema’s header?
I am a Barcelonista and look that I only have respect for Benzema.
Disrespectful, arrogant, unprofessional.#TNTSportsMex disgust ?— Mary (@Marisol4ever10) April 12, 2022
The chicken said that Benzema’s elbow to Silva was not on purpose because Benzema is not a malicious player. (which was true)
Immediately Reimers replies “it wasn’t for cell phone issues and photos because…”
And the chicken was like this: ???— Mary (@Marisol4ever10) April 12, 2022
The Reimers with her “canceller” culture obsession making extra soccer comments from Benzema’s past is all that’s wrong with having the #Champions hijacked by HBO.

“Benzema is only malicious with the cell phone and the photos”

What martyrdom the Champions with this ridiculous unpleasant

It should be noted that the accusation against Karim Benzema was true and even one of his former teammates on the French team was accused of rape.
In this sense, and in a context in which these types of issues have gained greater resonance for a few years, there are those who take advantage of the platform available to them to make them visible, which is what Marion Reimers did today: talk about a controversial case about a soccer player who, at this moment, is classified as a sports star.
In the end, it is a criticism of the image of an athlete who, in his work, can be considered professional, but with accusations like the ones he faces, his image can be severely affected.
