The social media platform Twitter has added a new cryptocurrency feature that allows users to search for the price of bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) simply by typing their names or tickers in the search tab..
The new feature is an enhancement to “$Cashtags” and was announced by the Twitter Business account on December 21..
The account noted that Whenever a major stock, exchange-traded fund or cryptocurrency symbol is tweeted with a $ in front of it, users will see a clickable link that will take them to the search results, which will now include the price charts of those symbols.
It was also pointed out that simply searching for the ticker, whether for a stock or cryptocurrency, will also display the price chart.
Shortly after, On December 22, Twitter CEO Elon Musk retweeted the announcement of the new feature, stating that it is “one of many product enhancements coming to financial Twitter.”.

It seems that BTC and ETH are the only two cryptocurrencies with price charts at the time of writing.. Other major cryptocurrencies, including MuskDogecoin’s beloved Dogecoin (DOGE), have not made the cut.
However, Twitter Business said it expects to expand its symbol coverage and improve the user experience “in the coming weeks.”.
Cointelegraph discovered that a number of bitcoin variations such as “$Bitcoin”, “Bitcoin price” and “BTC price” also show the price chart, and corresponding searches work for Ethereum as well.
The tech blogger Jane Mastodon Wong told her 158,700 Twitter followers on Dec. 21 that the charts come from the TradingView analytics platform..

The price charts also include a clickable “View on Robinhood” link in the bottom left cornersuggesting that the retail trading platform has partnered with Twitter for this integration.
Over there, users are taken to Robinhood’s price chart for ETH, which provides an additional link below that says “Sign up to buy Ethereum.” The same links are also provided for bitcoin.
However, No details of the partnership between Twitter and Robinhood have been disclosed..
The integration of Twitter price charts can generate more traffic on Robinhood, since #Bitcoin is tweeted about 120,000 times a dayaccording to data from BitInfoCharts.
However, #Ethereum is around 25,000 times.
Earlier this month, rumors began to circulate that Twitter could create its own native cryptocurrency“Twitter Coin”, which would be used for payments on the platform. The rumors began on December 4, about a week after Musk shared a look at what “Twitter 2.0” could be, including the possible integration of cryptocurrency-based payments on Twitter.
But Musk’s future on Twitter seems to be at a crossroads, as the controversial figure I ask Twitter users whether he should “resign as head of Twitter” in a poll conducted on Twitter on December 19and 57.5% of the 17,502,391 voters who answered “Yes”.
Musk added after that “I’ll resign as CEO as soon as I find someone dumb enough to take the job!”.
