The Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre, a company that created professional wrestling in our country in 1933, is about to celebrate its 90th anniversary, and to celebrate it, the Arena México Tunnel was inaugurated in the Cuauhtémoc City Hall, a space focused on telling the story in an immersive way. of national wrestling and also promote it.
For this reason, at the opening ceremony of the space, a plaque was unveiled with the phrase: “Writing the history of wrestling.”
What can you find in this new corridor?
In the first place, the site promises to please the most assiduous fans because from the start, signs were placed, in the style of those used to name the streets in the city, with the names of the most well-known keys or movements of the pankration, such as the hurracarrana, the one with the hair, the hammer, the spear, the breaker, the tapatía, the stripper either the piercing
Next, the visitor will be able to take a tour of the almost 100 years of history of this sport through paintings, posters of historical meetings; photographs with fights, popular techniques, unforgettable moments and Mexican legends such as El Santo, Blue Demon, Atlantis, Kemonito, Stephanie Vaquer and Rey Bucanero, among others.
Lastly, the theme hall will provide fighters with a space to sell their products; so fans will be able to purchase everything from masks, toys and shirts, to sports discipline artifacts.
A new tourist attraction
In the same way, it is sought that the tunnel becomes a tourist attraction that highlights the strong identity of the neighborhoods that surround it: Tepito, Doctores, Obrera, the Historic Center and Guerrero.
