Publisher Devolver Digital has dropped a new gameplay trailer showcasing the fierce combat mechanics of Trek to Yomi. Announced last summer for a 2022 release, Trek to Yomi’s Ghost of Tsushima-like qualities immediately caught the public’s attention. However, unlike Sucker Punch Productions’ title, this samurai game is a black and white side-scroller.
Trek to Yomi It stars Hiroki, a young swordsman who promised his dying master that he would spend his life protecting his people from any threat. The samurai, forced to do his duty, faces many challenges as he stays true to his promise.
After the recent appearance of Trek to Yomi At State of Play, Devolver Digital and developer Flying Wild Hog have decided to share another look at the long-awaited action game, which is still on track for a 2022 release.
The latest trailer for Trek to Yomi revolves around combat. Devolver Digital posted approximately one minute of gameplay showing Hiroki’s prowess with a sword, as well as his skill with a bow and arrow.
Heads fly from shoulders, enemies drop to their knees after being slashed to the guts, and blood flies freely as Hiroki lunges forward. Needless to say, this is one side-scroller that fans of visceral combat mechanics won’t want to miss out on when it releases sometime this year.
Given that this game comes from Shadow Warrior developer Flying Wild Hog, a team known for envisioning some of the most over-the-top violence in gaming, it should come as no surprise that Trek to Yomi boasts incredibly brutal combat encounters.
