In that sense, the World Health Organization (WHO) mentions that each year there are 303 thousand women who die from causes related to pregnancy. In addition there are 2.7 million children who die during the first 28 days of life and the number of stillbirths reaches 2.6 million.
With this context, the quality health care during pregnancy and childbirth can prevent many of these deaths. However, globally only 64% of women receive antenatal care four or more times throughout their pregnancy.
What is a complication during pregnancy?

He explained that as a preventive measure to avoid contagion and as a measure to reduce risks to pregnant mothers, during the pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, all patients at the institute underwent screening tests.
The specialist said that the main disciplines that accompany the obstetrician in a complex case are: Hematology, Fetal Medicine, Intensive Care, Neonatology, Psychology, Psychiatry, Rheumatology and Internal Medicine, among others.
He argued that the work in this institute is based on the training of specialists in gynecology and obstetrics; high-risk pregnancy care and clinical research.
The head of INPer’s Obstetrics Department said that the institute has 1,700 workers and 350 gynecologists-obstetricians. During 2021, he added, 10,838 pregnant women received care, 7,778 gynecological consultations and 1,342 cesarean sections were offered.
