Jack Duquesne, better known as Swordsman, appeared in the Hawkeye series, and his interpreter, Tony Dalton, hopes to return to a Marvel Cinematic Universe project soon.
One of the characters that surprised the audience of the Hawkeye series was Jaques Duquesne aka Swordsman, played by Tony Dalton. Who ended the first season as an ally of Kate Bishop and Clint Barton, despite the fact that his first intentions were not the best.
In an interview with the Inverse site, Tony Dalton declared himself ready to play Swordsman again for an upcoming Marvel Studios project.
“Yes, of course, that would be great!”
Dalton noted that unlike some characters who have their path marked out for good or evil, his version of Jack Duquesne started out as a villain and ended up as a defender of justice, despite being framed for murder.
“I was a little more mysterious and a little more melodramatic than the other characters because, at the end of the day, I’m supposed to be the guy who’s not who you think he is on the show.”.
The challenge of playing Swordsman
Dalton stressed that the European origin of Swordsman implied an acting challenge, since Marvel Studios avoided pigeonholing the histrion in the cliché of latimos in Hollywood.
“In Hawkeye, my character is not Latino. His name is Jacques/Jack, and he has a sort of pseudo-transatlantic British accent. The character is far from who I am, but I think it’s a wonderful aspect… You want to play a character that has some kind of connection with the audience, one that is believable and that the audience is emotionally involved with.”.
The Swordsman interpreter detailed the way Marvel Studios works to prevent team members from leaking details of the stories being filmed.
“(At Marvel Studios) They’re so tight-lipped about the episodes and what’s going to happen. You basically know what you’re going to do with your character with the episode that you get a script for, one or two episodes. And everything else they keep in the dark until they tell you that you’re in the next episode”.
The first episodes of the Hawkeye series are now available on the Disney+ digital platform.

Own the inspiration to the Hawkeye series
In 2012, Marvel Comics renewed one of its oldest and most underrated Avengers: Hawkeye.
In 22 regular issues and one annual, Matt Fraction and David Aja gave Clint Barton a life of his own that had never been seen before. In addition, they knew how to combine the youth and energy of the new Marvel archer, Kate Bishop, with the experience and hobbies of Barton.
For the first time in Mexico, this work, winner of several Eisner awards, is published in an integral way, which serves as the basis for the new Marvel Studios series.
