In a recent interview, the actor Tom Hiddleston spoke a little more about what fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe can expect from the second season of Loki.
When asked about the new season, Hiddleston revealed that he is looking forward to the challenges ahead while joking that the story isn’t over after the show’s first six episodes. He described Loki as more turbulent, passionate, and chaotic than ever before, which means that there are many unresolved issues that need to be resolved.
What can I say? She continues to thrill and challenge me. At the end of season 1, the story is not over. I think that is very clear. Loki is almost more unstable, turbulent, passionate, and chaotic than he’s ever been. And maybe some of that needs resolution. There are things to unpack.
Recalling the first season, Hiddleston praised the bold decisions that Marvel Studios made, specifically noting the character’s progress on his inner journey. It’s a story Hiddleston wanted to tackle regardless of whether he involved Loki, but obviously he likes him being the God of Deception even more.
We made some bold new decisions. Loki goes on a great inner journey that feels very new and fresh. And I thought, ‘I’d like to explore this kind of story, whether it’s Loki or not. But the fact that it’s Loki is even more interesting.
Looking back even further at his entire journey as Loki, the actor reveals that the character will always be a huge part of his life. Hiddleston even referenced a recent experience in a public restroom where a fan called him Loki, confirming that this is how fans see him even outside of the MCU.
Playing Loki is a source of eternal surprise and delight, the entire journey. It is absolutely a part of my life now, and always will be. You know, just now in the bathroom, someone came in and said, ‘Loki.’ And I said, ‘Tom’. And they said, ‘I’m sorry. Yes’. But it is what people see.
