One of them is Disney, which over the years has been making changes to its products, especially in its parks, such as the recent confirmation that Tokyo Disney Resort eliminated ‘Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah‘ of the music of Splash Mountain to align with the inclusion initiative.
It is no secret to anyone, all the controversy that has arisen over the years with the Splash Mountain attraction in the Disney parks. Where in June 2020, Walt Disney World announced dramatic changes in Splash Mountainthe aquatic attraction with a strong fall in Magic Kingdom, after it was branded as racist, since it is related to “Song of the South“, the most controversial film of the entertainment company for its treatment of slavery and racial stereotypes.
Splash Mountain is an attraction that was first released in 1989 at Disneyland Park in California and, due to its popularity among visitors, reached Walt Disney World (Orlando) and other international parks.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is so controversial that even Bob Iger, the former CEO of Disney, has assured that it will never be released. on video nor will it reach Disney+, the streaming platform.
Tokyo Disney Resort removes ‘Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah‘ of Splash Mountain
As part of the international company’s changes to this attraction, Disney has removed from the game music ‘Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah’ at its Resort in Tokyo.
The information disseminated by specialized media in the industry, detail that there have been more changes in the Disney parks, as another Resort slowly begins to remove references to Splash Mountain from its facilities.
Although the Splash Mountain attraction spans three continents, appearing in the park Walt Disney World Resort’s Magic Kingdom, Disneyland Resort’s Disneyland Park, and Tokyo Disney Resort’s Tokyo Disneyland Theme Park.
Tokyo Disney Resort has frequently updated and revised its content to ensure the comfort of all guests during their stay.
This change in said park, which although it has been slow compared to the other locations, adds to the one made last year, where in the attraction Main Street Electrical ParadeTokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade Dreamlights removed all gender language from its soundtrack, much like Disneyland Resort. Similarly, prior to the parade change, Tokyo Disney Resort also removed gender language from its theme park greeting, welcoming “everyone” to the park instead of “boys, girls, ladies, and gentlemen.”
The elimination of “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah“, winner of the Academy Award, this musical series could be the precursor to more changes in this hotel and the final location of Splash Mountain all over the world.
In conclusion, it is increasingly common for brands to begin to eliminate from their products those that have been strongly controversial in the current world in which we live for affecting various communities.
