The Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) reported in 2022 that the total traffic of short text messages (SMS) increased 31.9% and 43.3 billion messages were sent, including those sent between users such as promotional messages or marketing campaigns. .
How to stop or reduce the number of promotional messages?
First of all, and as specified by the Law 1581 of 2012 on the Protection of Personal Data, you can notify the entity through any of the channels you have enabled to stop sending you this type of message. AND must fulfill it in 15 business days at most.
But since this road could be longer, due to the amount of time that must be invested in this management and also because cases have already been registered in Colombia in which the data deletion takes up to 15 monthsthen you can choose another alternative.
The second option is to register your mobile number for free in the Registry of Excluded Numbers (RNE) and in 5 business days you will stop receiving text messages for commercial and/or advertising purposes.

2.Accept the terms and conditions and the processing of personal data.
3.Click enter. Fill in all your personal information and press the ‘register’ button.
4.Complete the process through an email that will be sent to you.
5.Choose the operator, enter your mobile number and click on ‘do not receive messages’.
In the portal you can also revert the measure and agree to receive messages again, as well as update the operator in case you have made portability.
