TIPS TO IMPROVE YOUR SELF-ESTEEM AND THAT OF YOUR DAUGHTER!
Every mom’s task is to help girls and adolescents be the best version of themselves and it is best to teach them by example. Dr. Susie Orbach, psychotherapist, women’s activist and member of the Self-Esteem Project Advisory Committee gives you some tips:
Travel back in time
Look at photos of you from some years ago where you like how you look. Maybe you realize that even though you didn’t like your body back then, now you feel like you looked good.
Give thanks to your body for everything you’ve lived
Remember that your body has lived, worked, has probably given birth, has brought children into the world and has formed a family. It is natural for bodies to change with age. Yours is truly amazing!
Don’t compare yourself with the models
Remember that images from magazines and the Internet are often digitally manipulated to look extraordinary, and are not photos of “real” men and women.
Reconnect with your body
Give yourself a few minutes a day, put on your favorite music and dance. Feeling how alive your body is can be very inspiring.
Create a positive environment
Talk with your daughter about the things she likes about the style of each one. Just highlight the positives and try to give specific examples. Listen to the qualities your daughter admires about you and remind yourself when you need to cheer up.
Recognize your beauty as a woman and spread it to your daughter.
What do you like most about yourself?
