Cesarean section is a surgery that allows the birth of a baby, by taking it out through an incision in the mother’s abdomen and is carried out when it is not possible to give birth for various reasons such as:
- Multiple pregnancy
- Problems with mom’s health
- Baby size or position
- Baby’s life is in danger
- Labor did not proceed as expected
It is important to note that many private hospitals seek to perform all possible cesarean sections, as this implies a higher cost for the patient, so we recommend that you anticipate this situation before the time comes.
When it comes to surgery, the mother requires certain care to heal properly, that’s why we give you some tips to achieve it.
1.- Walk
From the first day, the mother must start walking, in order to speed up the recovery and elimination of gases (which usually accumulate after the abdominal procedure).
2.- Be helped
The postpartum cesarean section turns out to be more annoying than in natural delivery, although some women recover very well. After surgical surgery, the body is resentful and mobility is limited, so it must be helped by family members to move only when necessary.
3.- Use a special belt
Some doctors recommend to use during the first weeks, a special girdle, which surrounds the hip and is fastened with velcro so that it can be more comfortable.
4.- Do not make efforts
Mom should rest as much as she can, avoid lifting heavy things before three weeks of recovery, the stitches usually heal in about 10 days. The wound does not require special care. It is enough to shower, dry the scar carefully and leave it for a few minutes in the air.
5.- Protect the wound
The wound should be covered by hand when sneezing, coughing, or adopting postures that involve bending the area of the stitches.
