This Wednesday it was announced that the “queen of Rock and Roll”, Tina Turner died at the age of 83. According to information from her representative, the American-born singer died “after a long illness” at her home in Kusnacht, near Zurich, Switzerland.
“Tina Turner, the ‘Queen of Rock’n Roll’ has passed away peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness at her home in Küsnacht, near Zurich, Switzerland,” read part of the statements collected by the medium Sky News and the Telegraph.
“With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model,” added her representative.
Let’s remember that the singer retired from the world of music in 2009, at the age of 70, having a 50-year career. Although she was born in Brownsville, Tennessee, on November 26, 1939, she was based in Switzerland and had held this nationality since 2013.
She is creditor of more than 200 million records sold and a whole legacy gathered in 22 albums, 12 studio, 3 live and 7 compilations. She also earned 21 Grammy Award nominations, of which she won eight statuettes.
Likewise, it is estimated that she has a fortune of 250 million dollars.
