TikTok you are introducing in your application an option that allows you to restrict live videos to those over 18 years of age. Knowing this new mode, we all come across the same question: Will it be something like OnlyFans?
In case you don’t already know, OnlyFans is a content subscription service where creators can earn revenue from subscribed users, mainly used for adult audiences.
Now, ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok is testing a new option in its app and has published a Press release to report on it.
“Perhaps it is a comedy show that is more suitable for adults. Perhaps a user wants to talk about a difficult experience and feels more comfortable knowing that the audience is going to be limited to adults.”, indicates the text, quoted in the report on the website of Gizmodo.
Guests on the live
The possibility of restricting videos is not the only novelty. Users will now be able to add up to five guests to their streamsanother function that exclusivity that can also be the adult public.
Keyword filtering is also being updated to remind content creators to moderate their own posts.
Another of the most important changes is that, as of November 23, to make live videos, TikTok will require the user to be over 18 years old. Currently, only streamers over the age of 16 with at least 1,000 followers can stream, which has become a growing part of their business model.
The goal of the social network is that videos that promote hate speech or disinformation are not available. These changes seem to focus on protecting minors and not turning their platform into a new OnlyFans. Also, TikTok continues to ban nudity, pornography and sexually explicit images.
