Learn about one of the most common oral infections in babies and how to treat it.
The Muguet is an infection recurs frequently in newborn babies. This discomfort usually lasts for a short time and only occurs once in a lifetime. However, it can be uncomfortable for the baby, especially during feeding.
Thrush symptoms are as follows: It begins with small white dots inside the mouth, on the tongue, palate, and cheeks. These increase in size, are grouped together and can appear in other parts of the body, such as in the diaper area, as red spots and flaking.
The appearance of thrush is due to the presence of a fungus called Candida Albicans, which the mother transmits to the baby during delivery. This situation is very common due to excess moisture in different areas of the body.
To treat thrush and prevent the baby from having discomfort during feeding, we suggest the following indications:
1.- Clean the inside of the baby’s mouth with a gauze soaked in a glass of sterilized water with a tablespoon of baking soda 4 0 5 times a day, especially after meals. It should be applied until the spots disappear completely.
2.- Limit the use of the pacifier both day and night. If the baby requires it, try to disinfect and sterilize it properly. Get a pacifier made of silicone for your little one, since bacteria remain in this material and do not pass into the baby’s mouth.
3.- Clean your breasts before taking them with a disinfectant product and acid soaps. Dry them carefully and apply an antifungal ointment after taking.
It is necessary to go to the pediatrician if your little one has a high fever, does not want to eat, the thrush symptoms are accentuated and it has not disappeared within 10 days.
