The idea of traveling in time has fascinated humanity for centuries. From the stories of Jules Verne to Hollywood films, the possibility of visiting the past or the future has captured our imagination.
We have shown it in different works of science fiction such as the Back to the Future saga, Marvel comics, DC or animes such as Dragon Ball. However, when we come to reality we find that traveling in time is impossible.
Is it really impossible to travel in time? Some physicists believe there are possibilities, and have developed theories that could explain how to do it.

Kip Thorne’s Time Travel
American theoretical physicist and Nobel Prize winner in Physics, has proposed the existence of wormholes. These hypothetical tunnels through space-time could connect two different points in the universe, allowing travel through time.
In his book “Black Holes and Time Warps,” Thorne describes how wormholes could be created by matter with negative mass, although this matter has not yet been detected.
Carl Sagan’s Time Tunnel
Another renowned physicist and scientific communicator also mentioned the possibility of time travel in his book “Cosmos.” According to Sagan, the curvature of space-time could be so intense that it could create a kind of “tunnel” that connects two different points in space-time, allowing travel through time.
Travel without changing anything, according to Igor Novikov
Russian theoretical physicist and astrophysicist, has proposed the self-consistency conjecture. This theory states that time travel is possible, but the past cannot be changed. According to Novikov, any changes made in the past are already included in the history of the universe, so a temporal paradox cannot be created.
Importantly, the possibility of time travel remains a topic of debate among scientists. Despite the theories proposed by these physicists, there is still no experimental evidence to confirm the possibility of time travel.
More research is needed to determine whether time travel is actually possible or not.
In the meantime, the idea of time travel will continue to fascinate us and fuel our imagination.
