These are the new attractions of the Chapultepec Forest that you should know:
Amphibium, Axolotl Museum
Among the extraordinary endemic fauna of Mexico is the axolotl, an endangered species that has always sought care. The Anfibium, museum and conservation center for axolotls and other amphibians, has the task of protecting but also sharing the knowledge of these “water monsters”, their meaning in Nahuatl axolotl.
The museum has several rooms to learn in a playful way everything that is known about the axolotl, such as the fact that it possesses extraordinary faculties that even for science represent mysteries:
- It reaches sexual maturity without changing its larval form.
- It has the exceptional ability to regenerate lost limbs, and even part of the brain and heart.
Likewise, there is also a wetland here to show the natural habitat of this and other amphibians that are also present: turtles, salamanders, toads, newts, fish, crayfish, among others.
Environmental Culture Center
The Second Section of the Bosque de Chapultepec has a new forum and exhibition space in what was once a deforested parking lot. The Center for Environmental Culture is made up of a set of thematic gardens that reinterpret the landscapes of the most representative ecosystems of the Valley of Mexico.
Here you can admire vertical wetlands, five types of ethnobotanical gardens, an exhibition pavilion and eco-technical samples. By visiting the CCA you will be able to enjoy multiple scenic, cultural and environmental experiences.
Los Pinos Floating Causeway
Crossing over poorly lit pedestrian bridges and having to walk long stretches to cross from one section of Bosque de Chapultepec to the other is a thing of the past. The new Los Pinos Floating Causeway, which connects the First and Second Sections of the Chapultepec Forest It is an effective and very attractive way to cross the great Periférico avenue.
The Floating Causeway is a pedestrian bridge that starts at Molino del Rey, crosses Periférico and extends to Avenida de los Compositores. It is 436 meters long and was designed by Gabriel Orozco Félix. It is a friendly pedestrian access with the urban and natural environment, it is also accessible for pedestrians, cyclists, strollers and people in wheelchairs.
- Where?
