Does anyone keep their account Threads but he doesn’t love her anymore? There is good news, it will finally be possible to delete that social network without saying goodbye to our instagram.
The social photo network It is an application that has managed to remain within everyone’s taste and sympathy over the years. Even after being acquired by Mark Zuckerberg and the people of Meta years ago.
It is admirable that the essence of the platform remains relatively intact throughout this type. But that has also brought as a side effect a relative stagnation of the social network in some aspects of its functions and configuration options.
We experienced one of the most obvious examples a few days ago when the people of Instagram confirmed that users could turn direct message read receipts on or off.
Something that might seem ridiculous at first, but in reality it was a request that the community had been requesting for years without being heard until now.
So many of us are surprised that it took so “little” time for them to begin separating accounts from the app that wants to dethrone xformerly Twitter.
Threads prepares many configuration and privacy improvements: you can finally unlink from Instagram
Adam Mosseri head of Instagram at Meta, recently announced a series of new updates for the Threads application precisely through your official account within said social network.
These modifications will mainly focus on user account management and privacy. Where perhaps the change that has made the most noise is that users will finally be able to delete their Threads accounts without having to delete their Instagram account:
Previously, the two accounts were linked, meaning that if a user deleted their Threads account, they also deleted their Instagram account. Something that at the time sparked a lot of criticism and that is finally being left behind.
The prayers have been heard quickly. Many users expressed concern about the lack of flexibility in managing their accounts and now everything will be very simple. To delete your Threads profile, simply update the app and follow the following path: Settings → Account → Delete or Deactivate profile, to close the account.
Another major update announced in parallel will allow users to disable the visibility of their Threads posts on Facebook and Instagram.
Previously, Threads publications were automatically shared on both platforms, not as much as direct posts, but it was possible to see a Thread from a friend or contact on Facebook or Instagram on the sister networks.
This worried some users, who feared that their posts would be viewed by unwanted people. After all, we have our own network of friends defined for each platform.
The new update will allow users to choose who sees their Threads posts by setting a couple of options in the Privacy section.
Mosseri unfortunately did not specify when these updates will be available. However, he said that he hopes they will be available in the coming days.
