This month, Summer Game Fest will feature world premieres, trailers, and game updates from across the industry. Ahead of the Summer Game Fest presentation, host Geoff Keighley hosted a Twitter feed to set the expectations for viewers around the world.
The Summer Game Fest is one of the main video game events that take place during the month of June, along with the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase. Geoff Keighley’s celebration is one of the most anticipated this summer, which is due in part to the success of the Game Awards.
The annual showcase attracted more than 30 partners to participate, including SEGA, Activision, PlayStation, EA, and miHoYo, to name a few. Special guests like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will also be at the show to attract an audience outside of traditional gaming events.
Geoff Keighley urges viewers to hold back and manage their expectations of rumored games that sound too good to be true. The Summer Game Fest will focus mainly on games already announcedsuch as The Callisto Protocol, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and Gotham Knights.
Keighley reiterates that the event is “not The Game Awards”, hinting that major game announcements should be expected during the December event rather than Summer Game Fest. However, he is very excited because the event features exclusive games for the Nintendo Switch and Xbox platforms, “massive games” and independent titles.
On the other hand, the Summer Game Fest has been criticized by viewers in previous years due to the lack of interesting reveals and content. Speculation around rumored games is persistent, but on the face of it, Summer Game Fest doesn’t seem like the place for those games.
