There are many USB hubs on the market, but this is one of the smartest and most stylish we’ve seen. And very practical!
For some reason that escapes us, manufacturers insist on hide USB ports in the most inaccessible places. They do this on both desktops and monitors, for example.
They always remain attached to the wall, or in places that are not seen. It is true that the main reason is aesthetic, so that they are not seen, but they lose part of their functionality, because you have to move the monitor to see them, or access them.
This is what happens in the new iMAC of 2021 (Analysis and opinion), where the USB ports are in the lower right corner, but in the back. The manufacturer Satechi places them in the front with a clever hub USB, as you can see in the opening photo of the news.
The problem of most of the hub is that they take up space on the table, which sometimes you don’t have.
Satechi avoids this by a grip system to the monitor. In this way the hub does not have to be on the table, and it does not take away from your desk.
In principle it is designed for the iMac of 2021. But as we see in this image, its attachment system by means of a rotating screw adapts to any monitor thickness, so it could be used with other computers and monitors:
You can see more photos in Yanko Design.
It plugs into one of the rear USB Type-Cs, and offers three USB Type A, one USB Type C, and SD and micro SD card readers.
It reaches a speed of 5 Gb / sg on the USB ports, and 104 Mb / sg on the card reader. It does not require installing software or drivers of any kind.
If you are interested, Satechi sells it in his web page At a price of $ 54.99. It is not cheap, but if you have an iMac, surely the price is not a problem for you … It will go on sale in mid-September.
We hope to see this kind of space-saving USB hub available for all types of monitors and USB connectors.
