Dragon Ball adventures look a little different when illustrated by the talented Japanese mangaka, Takeshi Obata, designer of the famous Death Note series.

The 40th anniversary of Dragon Ball will be celebrated in 2024. The first publication of the manga was made in November 1984, although it was not until a year later that it gained popularity. That is why dozens of illustrators of recognized current series pay tribute to Akira Toriyama, in an initiative of the magazine Shueisha and Shonen Jump.

The tribute is that each of these illustrators will design a cover for one of the many issues of Dragon Ball, but with their own style. The initiative began to be published a couple of years ago. We’ve seen designs from the creators of Demon Slayer, Dragon Quest: The Adventure Of Dai, Naruto and Jujutsu Kaisen, among others.
At the end of January of this same year they announced Takeshi’s collaboration with the people of Dragon Ball. And just a month later, around the end of February, we see this brutal work by the Death Note designer.
Death Note is a manga series written by Tsugumi Ōba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata, and whose anime adaptation was directed by Tetsurō Araki. It also has several movies and video games.
The story centers on Light Yagami, a high school student who finds a supernatural notebook called the “Death Note.” The notebook is owned by a shinigami named Ryuk, who has abandoned it in the human world because he is bored.
Light decides to use the Death Note to destroy criminals and create a perfect world. However, his actions draw the attention of the police, who send L, a mysterious detective, to investigate the murders.
