Slowly but steadily, high blood pressure has increased its incidence throughout the world. Factors such as an inadequate diet and lack of exercise have led to this phenomenon. While the current sedentary lifestyle that has increased due to the pandemic can be fatal for the following generations because their health will also suffer. Even now, this condition could appear at younger ages and generate a decrease in the quality of life.
Current outlook in Mexico and the rest of the world
Just talking about our country is already a public health problem. To date, it is estimated that one in four Mexicans over the age of 20 has high blood pressure. While one of the drawbacks is that at least half of them are unaware of their condition. The bad habit of not going to medical consultations on a regular basis is also a discomfort that must be fought.
While according to the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), when the condition is not diagnosed or the patient does not control it, it can lead to the development of more than 30 different cardiovascular diseases. Some of the main ones are heart attacks, heart failure and strokes. Although in the end anyone can cause death.
While at the global level the picture is not very different. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that more than one billion people have high blood pressure. That implies that between 30 and 45 percent of adults suffer from it. While it has already become the leading cause of premature death on the planet. In 2015 alone it caused around 10 million deaths.
As already mentioned, the current lifestyle favors its appearance. The same goes for addictions like smoking and alcoholism. But now A study carried out by the School of Medicine of the University of Hokkaido in Japan has pointed out a new risk factor.

What the research affirms is that the economic level is directly related to the development of arterial hypertension. After analyzing more than four thousand workers, what was obtained is that those with high incomes were up to twice as likely to develop this condition compared to the rest.
The research emphasizes that the results are independent of the age, workplace and occupation of each person. While now the biggest question is the reason for this relationship. Until now it has not been possible to explain what the association is due to. While it has also been criticized that the size of the population analyzed was very small and therefore no definitive conclusions can be drawn.
