It was September 17, 2013 and the world was more than ready for the arrival of GTA V. The new installment of rock star It broke all kinds of records in its first weeks of life and showed us that the saga is still in top form. And with a new game, they arrive new mysteries unexplained.
A mural on top of Mount Chiliad drove the community crazy for years. A drawing with lines, squares with several X’s inside, a huge glowing eye at the top, a UFO, an egg and a human figure wearing a jetpack. Exactly, the show was served to the entire community.
hands to mystery
Considering how it is usually rockstar with easter eggs, everything seemed to indicate that a series of actions on the Los Santos map would trigger a colossal event. Hidden from everyone, but with enough cunning, its appearance could be provoked.
The search also extended to GTA Online two weeks later with its release on PS3 and Xbox 360. Connections to all kinds of clues were not lacking: a UFO deep in Paleto Bay, the three spaceships that appeared after completing the 100% the game, the ghost of Jolene Cranley-Evans on Mount Chiliad itself, or a frozen alien at the start in North Yankton.
Some crumbs that seemed to connect with each other in an unimaginable way. The intrigue began to rise to unsuspected limits, since the usual thing is that the players track every inch of the game and solve the case in a short time. This did not happen this time, so more and more users joined a cause that did not receive more food until a year later.
With the arrival of GTA V to PS4 and Xbox One, we had more evidence that Rockstar wanted to simmer the mystery. The desert satellites were now a rather suspicious green color at night and one of the promotional trailers showed a sequence of a character being sucked into a UFO. To finish off the play, the landing on PC offered a skin for the sniper who raised the alarms.
It was the time when peyotes appeared in the undergrowth of Los Santos and we got to see what it’s like to be an animal in the noisy city. The appearance of the mysterious golden peyote fulfilled the wet dream of many by being able to transform us into Big Foot, a clear reference to the myth present in GTA San Andreas. All in all, the focus was still on the top of the sky.
a damn answer
Not even Indiana Jones would have taken this long to find a treasure. Three years had passed since the release of GTA Online, we were in the middle of 2016, and it was still not clear what the happy mural meant. The Imports and Exports update added a new UFO, which hasn’t been used yet, and a painting in one of the new offices showed an alien invasion.
Hope came with the Gunrunning update. A group of modders, known as Gurus, noticed that a really special event. The conditions for them to activate were not entirely clear and, to top it off, involved a degree of randomness.
Eager to hear the outcome, this team forced the game for a supply recovery mission to go live. The surprise was total when we found a crashed UFO on the ground, with an egg that we could pick up and creatures that attacked us. A doubt resolved, which encouraged to reveal the whole truth.
This appeared as a total revelation thanks to the expansion of The doomsday blow at the end of 2017. The main mission to save the planet from a fatal fate resulted in a hive of responses. In the final leg, we were to infiltrate evil Clifford’s nuclear missile silo deep inside Mount Chiliad.
To make matters worse, the last objective was to finish off the villain by chasing him with a jetpack, which could later be obtained at Warstockcacheandcarry.com for a ridiculous figure of 3,657,500 dollars under the name of Thruster. However, this great content still hid one more surprise.
Once again, from Gurus they stumbled upon mysterious discoveries in the code of GTA Online. xm_lab_x_01, xm_lab_x_02 and so on until reaching five different locations that, further searching in the files, located five points inside the nuclear silo.
If we look carefully, we will see that there are different signs in each of these places. A sound wave, a plant… symbols of no great importance that have been forgotten, although they shed some light on what the X’s on the mural mean.
What the hell is going on?
If we go back to the mission in which we got the alien egg, from Gurus they found out that, by achieving a series of extremely expensive requirements at the time level, a fundamental scene could be unlocked. After a drunken night, our character from GTA Online would appear on top of Mount Chiliad with a tattoo just like the one on the mural on his back and in front of him. a fast receding ufo.
Beyond the tiny winks in the slot machines at The Diamond Casino & Resort, in the attic of the building, in the mission in which we have to retrieve a UFO from Fort Zancudo, the situation seems more than clear.
There is no mystery to solve, or at least all the pieces don’t fit together. Over the years, the Mount Chiliad mural was the biggest mystery we could come across in GTA Onlinebut the hype balloon got so inflated that it never burst satisfactorily.
We don’t know if Rockstar placed it that early, but it decided to solve it all through winks in missions from the multiplayer expansions. Unless the community misses a key detail, it doesn’t look like anything is going to come out of the door next to the mural.
Maybe a big disappointment to many, although the years of research of thousands of players do not seem to deceive. At least the company is aware that we have all looked for a clue at some point and has left a small collectible alien next to the mural.
