Rockrider, a French brand belonging to the Decathlon Group, has presented its new range of electric bicycles at the Roc d’Azur. The new range is called E-EXPL and consists of five mountain models, two semi-rigid and three on suspension.
Decathlon has been betting heavily on cycling for years and under the Rockrider brand it has managed to bring this sport to many fans at a competitive price.
Now, the French firm seeks to strengthen its presence in the electric bicycle segment with a new range, the E-EXPL mid-range Mountain Bikes. 5 new models that have been presented at the Roc d’Azur cycling fans meeting, held in Fréjus, France.
Rockrider E-EXPL 520
The entry model of the E-EXPL range is the 520, a semi-rigid eMTB that incorporates a motor Yamaha PW CE of 50 Nm of torque and 4 assistance modes in the central position. The battery, integrated into the frame, is 500 Wh and transfers the stored energy to the ground through 29-inch wheels.
In addition, the E-EXPL 520 incorporates 180 mm Tektro disc brakes, an 8-speed Microshift gearbox (since it is a single chainring) and a front suspension fork Suntour XCM 130mm travel.
Rockrider E-EXPL 520S
The 520S is a variant of the entry model that incorporates X-Fusion rear suspension and mounts a Brose T engine with increased power, which gives it a maximum torque of 70 Nm. Of course, the battery is the same, as well as most of the components.
Rockrider E-EXPL 500S
Third on the ladder of the new E-EXPL range is the 500S, a full suspension bike midway between the previous two models.
Its 500 Wh battery stands out, combined with the 50 Nm Brose C engineits Ergo 900 screen integrated into the handlebar and the 4 assistance modes available for the cyclist who enjoys it.
Suspensions are borne by X-Fusionwhile disc brakes are provided by Tektro and Microshift take care of the 8-speed shifting with their Acolyte range.
Rockrider E-EXPL 700
The top of the range in semi-rigid variant is the E-EXPL 700, which has a Brose T motor with 70 Nm of maximum torque, a 630 Wh battery and X-Fusion RC32 suspension front fork with 130 mm of travel.
Also noteworthy are components such as the Tektro brakes with 180 mm discs, the Shimano Deore LG 10 speed or the 29-inch Rockrider Grip 500 tires.
Rockrider E-EXPL 700S
The last of the 5 new models is the 700S, the full suspension variant of the top model. In this case, the front fork is a Rock Shox 35 Silver R 140mm of travel, while the rear shock is provided by a Rock Shox Deluxe Select Coil.
The new E-EXPL range will be launched on the market in the spring of 2023 and all models can be completed with an additional battery anchored to the frame. Official prices have not yet been released, but are expected to fluctuate between 2000 and 3500 euros.
