One of the applications that is being developed the most lately by Google is, without a doubt, Google Maps, which is increasingly incorporating new functionalities that make it a true social network for mobility.
Google Maps started as a simple map and navigation application but now, for example, it recommends the best bars and restaurants in our area.
The last function that Google Maps has just received is the inclusion of very precise details of a street such as pedestrian crossings, roundabouts, and even stairs.
Google Maps incorporates a new function: show very precise details of a street such as pedestrian crossings, roundabouts and stairs
Google has confirmed that this new Google Maps functionality is available, at the moment, only in 4 cities: London, New York, San Francisco and Tokyo.
We can access the complete information of this new functionality in the Google Maps help menu.
This help menu explains that with this new function, users of these cities can access details as precise as:
- Sidewalks
- Crosswalks
- Paths and stairs of the parks
- Roundabouts
- Islets
- Full-scale road widths
These data are updated regardless of the version of Google Maps that we have installed on our device.
Even in the same terminal, the details of a street with our usual account can appear, but if we change accounts, this information will disappear.
This new function is really useful when we go somewhere on foot in order to plan the trip more precisely and especially if, for example, we move around the city in a wheelchair or carrying a baby carriage.
