There is a heartbreaking truth behind this great power
Shingeki No Kyojin Season 4 Has Finally Revealed How Titans Are Really MadeHowever, it is a much sadder story than we could imagine. At the start of Shingeki No Kyojin, the titular monsters are nothing more than flesh-hungry menaces, but as Eren Jaeger and his friends uncover each of the Titans’ secrets, that perspective on them changes completely.
Of course, the power of the Titans was initially obtained by a slave named Ymir in the distant past. After Ymir’s death, this gift was distributed among nine titan changelings, who gained the ability to transform into titans at will, then return to their normal form. The mindless creatures that devastated humanity in the early episodes of Shingeki No Kyojin are known as “pure Titans”, or transformed humans who have lost their intelligence and the ability to return to their original form.
So far, Shingeki No Kyojin has shown the transformation of the Titans as an ability that is passed down through Ymir’s Eldian bloodline. In fact, only eldians can become titans (changing or not), if they were to eat the current owner they would obtain this power of the Nine. On the other hand, if a Mod-Titan dies without being chewed, the power of it will be reborn into another “Subject of Ymir”. As early as the second half of Shingeki No Kyojin Season 4, these rules are pretty well known. But one of the events that set the course for the series was when Eren and Zeke Jaeger finally make physical contact in the “Two Brothers” chapter, and are transported to the Roads to meet their legendary ancestor, Ymir, in person.
Once they were in front of Ymir, the creator of all titans, Eren and Zeke learned how titans are created., a truth that was always kept secret. Mainly Ymir builds them with sand and “sends” the bodies to any place in time and space that is necessary. Despite having died many centuries ago, andmir is still the true source of all the powers of the Titans. He now dwells on a spiritual plane known as the Paths, where the Titans of the past, present, and future are connected, allowing him to be present and influence each and every one of Ymir’s Subjects.
For example, Reiner Braun currently possesses the Armored Titan in Shingeki No Kyojin. Every time Reiner triggers his “transformation”, he is actually summoning Ymir. In the Paths, she builds the Armored Titan’s body from scratch using the kingdom’s mysterious sand along with a small bucket of water, and that body is sent through the Paths to wherever Reiner is calling it. Since the Paths exist timelessly, Ymir may spend years making Reiner’s Titan, but the transformation will seem instantaneous to those in the real world, including the Armor itself.
In fact, this same process occurs every time a Titan is wounded. If Reiner’s arm was cut off by Mikasa’s sword during a battle, Ymir would create another arm in the Paths, and then send it through it, giving the impression that the Armored Titan is capable of healing itself..
This power in the hands of whoever inherits a Titan, will be linked to tragedy in a certain way. And now discover that the core of this power is a young girl enslaved by a greedy kingthat his task for eternity is to create huge bodies of sand and he lacks the will to refuse, makes the plot of Shingeki no Kyojin definitely more harrowing than we thought.
