The AquaDomthe largest cylindrical aquarium in the world and located in the Radisson Collection hotel in Berlin, it burst this morning apparently due to deterioration of the material and spilled a million liters of water from insideplus 1,500 tropical fish.
The alarm was unleashed around 5:45 in the morning, when a very loud noise was heard, similar to an explosion, according to the regional radio television channel Rbb, coming from the Aquarium, in the form of a column along six floors of the hotel.
Shortly after, its structure burst and the interior doors and windows of the establishment also jumped through the air.while about a hundred members of the fire department arrived at the hotel, plus another hundred police officers, and proceeded to evacuate its nearly 300 guests.
The water from this aquarium has almost completely leaked, both inside the building and towards Karl Liebknecht street,” a spokesman for the fire department said in statements to said regional network.

The area was cordoned off in a wide radius from 06:30 (5.30 GMT), while two people who were injured were treated.
Nearly 1,500 marine animals died
Most of the 1,500 tropical fish in the Aquadom, of almost a hundred different species, died, although according to the Berlin newspaper “Der Tagesspiegel” some specimens that were in side aquariums have been collected and transferred to other parts of the city.

According to the “Bild” and “Tagesspiegel” newspapers, cited as sources by the Berlin Interior Authorities, The breakage of the aquarium is probably due to deterioration or the so-called “fatigue” of the installation materials.
Aquarium, in existence since 2003
The privately managed AguaDom was inaugurated in 2003 and, after twelve years in operation, closed to proceed with renovation work, at a cost of 2.6 million euros, to reopen in the summer of 2020.
Among other measures, the silicone joints were renewed and the pool was thoroughly cleaned.
It forms a cylinder 16 meters high by 11.5 meters in diameter and its total height is 25 meters. It allowed the visitor to contemplate its interior through an elevator installed in its central part, which is accessed through a tunnel.
