Instagram will say goodbye to its “Swipe Up” feature that allows you to offer links to go to other content in the stories of your profile (only if you have more than 10,000 followers). The function that allows you to slide your finger from the bottom up on the screen during a story to access an external link, disappears this August 30, that is, next Monday.
Anyway, you can continue to share these external links but in another way. As we had already anticipated, instead of the “Swipe Up”, people will be able to use stickers or stickers in their stories that include the link to access external web pages.
This update comes after tests carried out by the company since the beginning of this summer. In June, Instagram started testing these stickers with various users And the most novel thing is that it not only tested it with those who have more than 10,000 followers, but that it gave access to less popular profiles.

So you can use the stickers for external links
Anyway, although the tests of the stickers were extensive and reached users who do not reach 10,000 followers, according to the company, for now, the new function will only reach people who already have the privilege of offering the “Swipe Up” or the option to swipe up in your story to include links. Even so, the social network “is still evaluating” its deployment to more users.
The update that hits the market next week “help us determine if it is the right decision before expanding access to more people“, according to the words of a spokesperson for the platform. Therefore, it is not known for sure if it will reach the whole world or will be relegated to the users with the largest number of followers.
These stickers will work in the same way as the link that exists so far, but instead of having to scroll up in the story, you only have to press to access the link. At the time of testing, Vishal Shah, former Instagram Product Manager, explained that the stickers were more in line with the way people currently use the platform and that, therefore, the objective is to extend the stickers as a form of interaction with this platform.
