As usual, each new DC news is loaded with a great controversy and dozens of comments. But nothing like the casting of Superman: Legacy. Find the actors who will give life to Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Lex Luthor and more iconic characters is not an easy task. And although there has been much speculation about the possible names chosen, there is still no one fixed. A few days after the first camera tests with the finalists are supposed to take place, it is James Gunn who talks about the rumors about the casting of Superman: Legacy.
During his time on the podcast Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum, the filmmaker gave a light update on the audition process. Although he did not confirm (or deny) the finalists mentioned in recent days, he did mention that they are at an advanced stage. He even took the opportunity to talk about the role played by the media in disseminating the names of various actors.
“Now that we’ve done a lot of auditions, we are reducing it (the list of options). We’re not done yet. There are things out there that are completely false. But I can’t go out and say, ‘Oh, this isn’t true, and this isn’t true’ without going through everything. And by the way, this point is not from the audience, I don’t think it’s the business of anyone who is screen testing for a role. That’s a very private thing. Journalists have to do what they have to do. That is your job. They are trying to get hits.”
If you follow Gunn on social networks, mainly Twitter, you will know that he is usually very vocal about the things that are published around the universe that he builds with Peter Safran for DC Studios. On more than one occasion, the director of Guardians of the Galaxy He has denied posts that he considers inappropriate or that could cause some confusion among fans.
In recent weeks, various media have mentioned specific names of the actors who have participated in the casting of Superman: Legacy. And while Gunn didn’t remove any names from the line, he did mention that some of the actors mentioned haven’t even been involved with the project. Apparently, everything has been about misunderstandings, and even some actors who have done tests are still hidden.
“(The media) finds out some things from the agencies, but here’s the problem: they find out some things from the agencies that could be true. They hear other things from agencies pushing their clients and trying to cheer them up with things like, ‘I think my client is testing!’ There’s a lot of nonsense that comes out of that, and it’s hard, because there are people outside who, supposedly, do tests, and they don’t. And that must be difficult for them as people. There are others who might be testing… and I think it’s a private thing between me and them.”, he added.
Until now, there is no confirmation of when we could meet the new Clark Kent, Lois Lane and Lex Luthor, among others. However, the proximity of the next Comic Con has rekindled the hopes of the fans. There are those who hope to meet the new faces of DC at said event. Will they get a surprise?
Superman: Legacydirected and written by James Gunn, will hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
Juan Jose Cruz I am one of those who always defended Robert Pattinson as Batman and can see the same movie in the theater up to 7 times. My guilty pleasure? Low budget horror movie.
