Artificial Intelligence (AI) is already helping to improve the production processes of employees and companies. In fact, consortia of all sizes and sectors improve their efficiency and competitiveness by using this type of tools, in contrast to those firms that still resist incorporating them, thinking that they are onerous or that they may represent a security risk.
For example, a recent study by the firm International Data Corporation (IDC), which surveyed the Technology Directors of 112 Mexican companies (CTOs), reveals that 17% of these consortia use AI to automate their processes in order to increase their efficiency.
Similarly, 14% of companies have adopted Artificial Intelligence as a solution to prevent, identify and resolve security threats of their information technologies, while 10% have done so to improve forecasting processes with tested and adjusted models for their sales.
These results are similar to those obtained in an analysis of the company Getty Images, firm that is dedicated to the commercialization of audiovisual content, which indicates that three out of four Mexicans have a positive opinion about the impact that AI has had on their lives.
In this latest survey, which surveyed 10,000 consumers and professionals from 26 countries around the world, it is reported that 74% of those interviewed say that technology helps them maintain and meet their goals, while 77% stated that virtual reality has opened the doors to new experiences that favorably influence their work and recreational activities.
About, Mauricio García-Cepeda, vice president of ServiceNow for Latin America, considers that AI helps improve the workflows of companies regardless of whether they are small, medium or large, since the Digital transformation and process automation is an investment that enhances business profitability.
“The moment you start to digitize your company and really automate processes, flows and tasks, you focus on your talent instead of what is urgent, what is important, then we often start by digitizing all those repetitive and tedious tasks” that really do not give much benefit to the business, so “we really focus on what is important,” argues García-Cepeda in an interview with HIGH LEVEL.
In that vein, the Microsoft Work Trend Index 2022, A study that this firm has been carrying out since labor trends changed drastically starting in 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, shows that consortia “of all sizes are experiencing exceptional disruption and change,” in the extent to which they incorporate technology into their daily work.
This index ensures that Artificial Intelligence helps “to discover, learn, ideate and make decisions”, making business operations more efficient, improving product and service development, and enabling new customer experiences.
The research highlights that “companies that are most advanced in their journey towards AI are those that obtain the most value from the technology.” In fact, business leaders from “AI-mature” firms predicted greater growth than managers from consortia that were less advanced in these tools.
These same results are reflected in the surveys that IBM commissioned the company Morning Consult, which ensures that three out of ten organizations in Mexico already actively implement Artificial Intelligence.
Generative AI
Artificial Intelligence is a concept that emerged since the fifties of the last century. In its beginnings, the authors of the term, the Americans John McCarthy, Marvin Minsky and Claude Shannon, considered that all aspects of human intelligence and learning, at least theoretically, could be replicated by a machine.
Today this is already a reality with natural language processing or NLP (Natural language processing), which is a modality of AI dedicated to providing computers with the ability to understand words and text, similar to how humans do. As an example of this we have ChatGPT.
Another form of AI is Generative AI (GIA), which is dedicated to creating original content from already existing data. This type of AI is part of the technological solutions offered by companies such as ServiceNow, IBM, Google, Adobe or Nvidia.
For example, “today, through our chatbots and of our different agents (virtual agents) that we have within the platform, what we achieve with artificial intelligence is to be able to convert everything into a conversation,” explained the ServiceNow executive.
At the same time, IBM It has the “Watson” tool with which it creates personalized designs for its clients; Adobe developed “Adobe Sensei” for data analysis and marketing automation; while Nvidia has “GauGAN” to generate photo-quality images from simple sketches.
On this topic, the study by the consulting firm International Data Corporation (IDC) showed that 30% of Mexican Technology directors have incorporated the IAG in their processes to improve service and customer experience with the use of chatbots, In addition, 32% of these executives assure that Generative Artificial Intelligence increases the effectiveness and automation of risk management.
Automation and security
For Mauricio García-Cepeda, the use of AI in companies is “a drastic change” that still faces certain resistance, although in businesses that already use it, the result is reflected -positively- in their profits. The use of AI in business environments also helps work teams focus on “important, strategic tasks and issues.”
That is, in terms of Human Resources, The automation of daily processes does not imply the replacement of employees, Because these, by stopping doing some tasks that a computer program will now perform, can be more creative, and dedicate themselves to topics that are much more important and that provide greater value to companies.
“This is where we really help companies to be leaders and, above all, to make decisions quickly,” says the manager, since the firms, by having operational efficiency, maximize their income.
According to Microsoft Work Trend Index 2022, three out of four people in the world admit that they feel comfortable using Artificial Intelligence in their administrative tasks, and 79% do not rule out carrying out analytical work using these tools.
