Mojang wants the world of Minecraft to really make sense.
Minecraft has a major new content update scheduled for this year, the so-called Wild Update, which is version 1.19 of the Mojang game. Like last year’s update, Caves and Cliffs, it was version 1.18. This update promises new biomes, mobs, wild nature items, etc.but it seems that some small animals will be left out: The fireflies.
In a recent video published by Mojang where the team answers questions from the community, producer Anna Lundgren talks about fireflies and assured that the initial plan was for them to arrive together with the frogs, already available in the test version. In theory, the fireflies were supposed to serve as food for the frogs, but they discovered that some of these insects are actually poisonous to amphibians, so they decided to cancel its implementation. At least for the moment, the producer assures that the subject is still being studied.
Indeed, the Wild Update does not yet have a specific release date, so the fireflies might be in time to get on board with the update if they figure out how to implement them differently. It doesn’t seem to be the case either, but this new version of Minecraft promises to bring lots of new bonus content enough to be worried only about the retreat of the fireflies. Take a look at the video in question.
Other Minecraft projects
While Mojang continues to work on the Wild Update and all upcoming content updates, the Swedish studio seems to have other Minecraft-related projects on its hands as well. After successfully trying his luck with Minecraft: Dungeons, a Diablo-style role-playing game, Mojang would be willing to bring minecraft to other genres. A new graphic adventure, a shooter, a kart game? We will see what Mojang surprises with soon.
