Ever since God of War came to PC, the modding community has worked hard to make memorable improvements to the acclaimed title. A recent trend has seen God of War character model swaps become popular, with The Last of Us franchise being the latest property to be moved to the Norse world of Santa Monica.
Others mods have created some memorable scenarios, however, The Last of Us is a particularly good choice for a game mod. God of Waras the bond between father and son is at the heart of both narratives.
Joel is a great stand-in for Kratos, while Ellie is a perfect fit for Atreus. Although the mod sounds great on paper, looks even better in action, with YouTuber Omega Fantasy showing off some of God of War after its transformation into The Last of Us.
According to the creator of the content, this video would not have been possible without the modders of God of War known as HitmanHimself, Marcos RC, Jordan and Darknessvaltier.
The video begins with Joel chopping down a tree like Kratos, though instead of using Leviathan’s axe, he wields an upgraded pipe, showing the effort that has gone into making him available. mod be as accurate as possible. Ellie appears shortly after her, wearing her trademark red t-shirt and backpack from the original game.
While it’s weird to hear Joel’s character model speaking in Christopher Judge’s voice instead of Troy Baker’s, the visuals are interesting, especially when the Outsider arrives.
Instead of the Baldur from God of War, Joel faces the always creepy David. Considering what David puts Ellie through in the first game, and the fact that Joel wasn’t there to kill him for her, it’s satisfying to see him get back at her.
Although both move like superhuman gods rather than normal people during their confrontation, the encounter ends with Joel snapping David’s neck like Kratos does with Baldur. With other great touches in the video, like music from The Last of Us soundtrack and Clickers replacing Draugr, there’s a lot to appreciate.
