We know that the war between protagonists of action series between the West and Japan has always been pending, discovering on a scale of power who would be the most powerful warrior is something that fans are quite excited about. For this reason, there are artists like JP Perez who has put Goku and Vegeta from Dragon Ball to fight with Batman and Superman from DC Comics.
In the series created by Akira Toriyama, we know that both Goku and Vegeta are the most powerful fighters of all time. They are currently fighting against Gas, the strongest warrior in the universe, during his path to become the next angel and god of destruction. In turn, this places them head and shoulders above their DC Comics counterparts.
Whereas in DC Comics, we have Batman and Superman as their two iconic heroes who always seem to pull off a victory, either fighting against powerful aliens or in his combat against the deities of his universe. And now they have made it to the world of anime, in these artworks showing their martial art duel of Goku and Vegeta who have gotten the upper hand over The Dark Knight and Man of Steel and are now doing their victory laps.
Posted on Instagram by @artbyjp, it shows the great power that Goku has over Superman. In fact, a quick tour of artist JP Pérez’s page shows an account full of art depicting characters from popular anime series, video games, comics, movies, and more. These two pieces are part of a six part Dragon Ball Z x DC Comics commission, Goku, Vegeta, Batman, and Superman are just a few of the characters that JP Perez has illustrated, and the combination of these specific heroes is one of the best.
starting with the Goku x Superman piece, JP Perez draws Goku in Super Saiyan form, with crackling lightning shooting out of his body in all directions. In his hands, tattered and torn apart, are the remnants of Superman’s cape, whose body is usually nowhere to be seen, immediately telling fans that Big Blue probably didn’t come out of this fight consciously or possibly even live. .
Depicting the aftermath of the battle between Vegeta and Batman, this upcoming piece of art adds something interesting to the mix, since not only is Vegeta already a Super Saiyan, but he is the dark version of him who has succumbed to the dark influences of the villainous Babidi. made evident by the Majin symbol etched on his forehead. Holding Batman’s hood in his hand as he looks at her triumphantly, Vegeta knocks Batman down and unmasks him in a double burn for the Caped Crusader he won’t soon forget.
Goku and Vegeta’s epic battle from Dragon Ball vs. DC Comics Batman and Superman
Drawn by JP Perez with ink and Copic markers, these two illustrations have a style that sits somewhere between anime art and comic book styles, subtly adding a fun element to the already unique combinations of comic/anime characters. And with JP Perez officially calling the fight between the Z-Fighters and DC superheroes the Saiyans, fans can debate exactly how Goku and Vegeta quickly went up against Batman and Superman because regardless of the outcome, it sure wasn’t easy.
Unfortunately for the fans, A True Dragon Ball x DC Comics Combination May Never Happen, so JP Perez’s amazing art will have to suffice. Goku and Vegeta may have beaten Batman and Superman this time around, but let these two Justice League members come back stronger than ever for round two! Although, as its artist mentions, it may take a bit of time: “On a side note, it’s been months since I’ve posted art 🤯 Disney projects have been very hectic and I’m so thankful for the work. I’ve finally had time to continue commissions for those who have been waiting so patiently. IG and social media in general have not been my priority which seems to have hurt my account. I have literally lost hundreds of followers in the last year. I am also not going to stress about it. I don’t want to be in a game of follower numbers. Just so thankful and blessed for all of you with an interest in my artwork and posts that I share 🙂.”
