If the Argentine National Team led by Lionel Messi wins the World Cup in Qatar 2022, the Noblex appliance brand will have a problem.
You must return the money from your customers’ purchases made on October 30, before the start of the Cup.
On that date, it launched a marketing action that consisted of offering 65- and 75-inch televisions for sale whose value would be replaced “if Argentina wins the World Cup.”
The fine print of the promotion says that it covers up to a sum equivalent to one million dollars.
The brand, which belongs to the Newsan group, had launched a similar promotion at the World Cup in Russia. That marketing move even made it into a movie that’s available on Paramount+.
At the 2018 World Cup in Russia, when Argentina had problems qualifying for the Cup, Noblex had promised that if Argentina did not go to that event, they would return the money to those who bought TVs from the brand.
The Argentine National Team finally qualified on the final date, beating Ecuador 3-1 and the brand’s campaign was awarded, in addition to having a film version.
A million dollars must pay this brand if Messi is World Cup champion
If this Sunday, December 18, when the final of the Qatar World Cup is played between Argentina and France (9 AM Mexico time), the team led by DT Lionel Scaloni wins, the company must reimburse up to one million dollars to the buyers of the more than 1,000 TVs that were sold on October 30.
The brand carried out the action on October 30 because that day was Diego Maradona’s birthday. The advertising and marketing campaign was titled “Paga Dios”, and sought to increase sales with the slogan “how not to get excited”.
The campaign contract letter reads: “By purchasing any of the Noblex televisions that participate in the God Pay Promo on Sunday, October 30, 2022, and uploading the details of your purchase invoice up to 10 business days after the purchase, you will be refunded the price paid for the purchase of the product in the event that the Argentine Men’s Soccer Team wins the 2022 FIFA World Cup”.
