Now that it’s official Lady Gaga will join Joaquin Phoenix in the second Joker movie, called Joker: Folie A Deuxwhich is officially in the works for a 2024 release, the Joker sequel that will see Lady Gaga staring at Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker as harley quinn.
Joker: Folie A Deux will be a dark musical that will no doubt benefit from having Lady Gaga’s pop star voice and personality at its disposal, but now fans are wondering how much will Warner Bros. pay Gaga?since this tape we will see her act, sing and dance, as it seems to be a demanding tape, to which a new report in Variety breaks down what Lady Gaga is paid.
That’s right, speaking of numbers, it is believed that both joaquin phoenix as the director Todd Phillips will receive $20 million in paydays, and new co-star Lady Gaga will receive $10 million, those salaries, combined with the cost of producing complicated musical sequences mean the sequel will cost an estimated $150 million to produce.
Now, the most notable thing here is that the budget of Joker: Folie A Deux is taking a huge leap from where the first film started, as Joker’s biggest draw was to be more in line with a low-budget feature film or standalone film. ($60-80 million only), which then Warner Bros. marketed it on the festival circuit, long before the big movie marketing push.
So Joker 2 will start out as a big budget movie, which seems like it could take away one of the biggest advantages the franchise has: “It really didn’t surprise me that Todd has always had a creative approach to character. I love musicals, and I think of them as if the characters felt and experienced so much that they could only sing and dance about it, whether in sadness or joy.”said the Joker 2 star, Zazie Beetzin defense of the musical approach.
“And I can see that inside of me too, because singing and dancing is quite a cathartic experience for me. I was going through a very, very difficult time at one point in my life, and I started dancing and crying by myself. And that was a expression that matched where I was at the time. So, I can see Arthur, who is feeling and experiencing so much, dancing and singing about it. He’s the Joker, so I think it makes sense to me.”
