In a recent interview, the actor Chiwetel Ejiofor talked about his character’s journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Baron Mordoafter the events of the first Doctor Strange film and in view of what we will see in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
When asked if Mordo was a victim of Thanos’s Snap, Ejiofor confirmed that the character was not part of the group of those who vanished with the Snap, pointing out that the former sorcerer of Kamar-Taj used that time for his business. In addition, he also shared that those years have not served to be at peace with Strange’s way of thinking.
That break with Strange has implications.
Let’s remember that Mordo left Kamar-Taj to try to create a world without sorcerers due to the problems that these could cause. And far from being an incomprehensible task, time has proved him right as seen in Scarlet Witch and Vision Y Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Concerns in the MCU have grown, but somehow Mordo’s concerns have gained momentum. The nature of what he has been talking about has been fulfilled in many respects. I think that’s a totally justified goal, and we’ll continue to see this dichotomy between someone who still has a brotherly connection to Stephen Strange, and someone who thinks about the big picture.
