Quálitas, the company that has a quarter of automobile insurance, is the insurer with the most complaints at Profeco, according to information from the Attorney General’s Office itself.
In 2022, CFE, Liverpool, VivaAerobus, Walmart and Aeroméxico concentrated the complaints filed with Profeco.
Those who filed complaints with Profeco had to wait 61 days for a response.
In order to protect the consumer, Profeco sometimes makes calls to review certain vehicle models, alerting them to damages. On this occasion, a Twitter user decided to apply it to the Attorney General’s Office by questioning her about whether or not certain tests are done before cars go on sale.
Especially given that the role of the Federal Consumer Attorney (PROPHECY) is promote and protect consumer rights and interestsas well as seeking equity and legal certainty in relations between suppliers and consumers.

For example, recently Profeco made a recall to those who bought a General Motors BOLT EV for seat belt failures.

On the other hand, the complaints that Profeco receives the most are for not respecting prices, quantities, deadlines, deliveries, conditions or characteristics. In fact, at the beginning of 2023 Ricardo Sheffield, head of the Federal Consumer Attorney’s Office, reported that the shortage of spare parts is the main cause of claim against auto insurers in Mexico.
It is estimated that on average each complaint filed in the Profeco offices has a cost of more than 5 thousand pesoswhile 13 percent of complaints filed in 2022 were carried out digitally.
In 2022, CFE topped the list of complaints filed with Profeco with 11,289 complaints, followed by Liverpool with 6,050, VivaAerobus with 3,641, Walmart with 3,511, and Aeroméxico with 3,123.
