The latest 343 Industries patch has resolved another issue that prevented halo-infinite had smooth online gameplay. This latest fix responds to a data bug that was downloading 300 MB for a single multiplayer game.
On July 21, a Twitter user found that a single Halo Infinite multiplayer match consumed 300 MB of data. After just a few games, this could result in several gigabytes of data being downloaded. This was later confirmed by other players, and even acknowledged by 343 itself the next day through an official Twitter post notifying players that the issue would be investigated.
This raises the question of how long this problem has lasted, and how long it would have continued if community members had not pointed it out or noticed it. It is not the first time that the community has noticed problems related to halo-infinite.
Fortunately, 343 posted another post on Twitter alerting the community to a fix it described as a background fix, but 343 is still working on a more permanent fix for the August update.
343 said it will continue to monitor the issue, but it’s good news for gamers who were itching to get back into the game that they can now do so without dropping frames or slowing down their connection, though keep in mind that Halo Infinite’s multiplayer issues they still persist in other areas.
Still, this is one less hurdle for Halo Infinite players to deal with in order to enjoy what is otherwise a very enjoyable multiplayer experience.
Halo Infinite is available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
