Time passes and there is a problem that has not been controlled in our country. It is not the Covid-19 pandemic but an older one that has even worsened recently. It is about violence and it affects everyone equally because no one is exempt from suffering from this type of aggression. One more case is added to the list and this time a resident was the fatality.
You know very well how complicated it is to be a doctor in Mexico due to all the barriers that must be faced. From the training begin the demands for young people who have the desire to become health professionals. While during the internship and social service the situation becomes even more worrisome due to the usual 36-hour days without rest. When you graduate from university, you think that everything will be different, but this is not always the case, especially due to the high levels of violence that are registered today.
What happened?
While now the entire guild is in mourning for a new horror story. It all started in mid-August when the disappearance of Dr. Rodolfo Issac Mendoza Andazola was reported. The last trace that was had is that he was traveling in his vehicle on the Reynosa-Río Bravo highway in Tamaulipas.
Since then, an intense search began until last August 24 a body was found in a vacant lot in Reynosa. The body was bound hand and foot and showed severe signs of violence.
After making the mandatory investigations it was found that it was the doctor reported missing. This is one more victim of violence. Those responsible have not yet been identified, but everything suggests that it was a poorly executed kidnapping.
For his part, Dr. Mendoza was of Mexican parents although he had American nationality. He had graduated as a general practitioner from the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juárez and was now serving as a Gynecology resident at the Reynosa General Hospital.
Other recent fatal assaults
This unfortunate fact joins others registered during this 2021 where health professionals have become the target of organized crime. Just last month we informed you of the bloody panorama that exists in Zacatecas. In a span of a week A radiologist, an Undergraduate Internal Physician (IPM) and an ambulance driver were killed.
As a result of all these cases, campaigns have arisen to demand an end to the violence and greater protection from the authorities. Even in some health centers of the entity the interns have requested their relocation immediately. They all feel at maximum risk and fear that they will be the next to suffer attacks of any kind.
While now a resident who was on the way to become a specialist is joining, but it will no longer be like that. Once again one of the noblest guilds has been attacked and the worst thing is that there are no signs that the violence can diminish.
