Privacy is the element that suffers the greatest consequences with the technology advancement. If you are surprised that a cellular device is capable of tracking our entire life, You will be shocked by a recent development that allows you to see through walls, based on a system that only uses WiFi signals.
Andro4All points out that this new development is the work of a scientific team from the University of Santa Barbara, which spent 10 years trying to create this system.
Specifically, they were able to read and see objects through the walls, thanks to the waves of three wireless Internet receivers and transmitters.
Experts explain that “the traces of the edges of objects leave traces, so you can see the outlines of, for example, words.” They used this technique and read a word that was written on a surface covered by a wall.
How do they do that?
It seems simple, but it is not. Although it certainly makes a lot of logic. They require several WiFi devices, since they need the waves emitted by the devices to capture the movement of what happens inside a room.
Without movement there is vision through a wall.
The technology uses a machine learning algorithm to analyze WiFi signals that reflect off objects and walls. The algorithm uses this information to create an image of the scene behind the wall.
This system still has some limitations. For example, the image quality is lower than that of a traditional surveillance camera. Additionally, the technology certainly cannot see through very thick walls or walls with many objects.
It is still in development, but has the potential to be a valuable tool for applications such as security, healthcare, and search and rescue.
