Through social networks, fans now ask that Mexico be suspended from the 2026 World Cup after what happened at the Corregidora Stadium.
What happened yesterday in the middle of the match between Gallos Blancos del Querétaro and Atlas de Guadalajara has been classified as “a black day” for Mexican soccer, a fact that will undoubtedly leave its mark among fans and the sport itself.
Unofficial figures say that there are at least between 15 and 20 deaths as a result of the violence that took place yesterday at the Corregidora Stadium, a fact that caused the suspension of the match and the rest of day 9 of the Closing Tournament of the MX League.
From different trenches, the soccer community in Mexico has spoken out against the violence and demands an in-depth investigation so that something similar does not happen again in the future.
Mikel Arriola, president of the Liga MX, expressed that the Corregidora incident was “inadmissible and unfortunate violence in the La Corregidora stadium. Those responsible for the lack of security in the stadium will be punished in an exemplary manner. Our commitment is to act so that there is no impunity in the face of these events.”
Among the sanctions that could be given is the expulsion of Querétaro in the remainder of the tournament, a sanction that has even been requested on social networks, where users have not remained silent and, in fact, demand the suspension of Mexico of the 2026 World Cup, in which the country will host together with the United States and Canada.
And it is that, once again, we return to see the phenomenon of social networks in moments of extreme gravity, as is happening these days with the Russia-Ukraine conflict that has paralyzed the whole world.
In this sense, for the fans who have expressed themselves through their social networks, the violence that occurred yesterday at the Corregidora Stadium, home of the Gallos Blancos del Querétaro, more than regrettable -which it is-, must be severely punished.
To mention an example, a user on Twitter asks that, just as Russia was suspended from all sports competitions after the attacks against Ukraine, Mexico should be removed from the 2026 World Cup due to what happened just 60 minutes into the game between the Querétaro and Atlas, on matchday 9 of the Closing Tournament.
Just as FIFA suspended Russia for the war against Ukraine, I hope it has the pants to SUSPEND Mexico at the national team and club level for the ‘Querétaro Massacre’.
What happened in La Corregidora has seriously hurt football, families and life. pic.twitter.com/hdMtMw1CDn

It is worth mentioning that this is not the only opinion in this regard, but that several Internet users have made their position clear in the face of an unfortunate, sad fact that has shaken the history of Mexican soccer.
If FIFA made the decision to leave Russia out of Qatar for reasons that have nothing to do with football….
Of course it is more than enough to leave him to Mexico for what happened.
Disqualification and withdrawal from Sede 2026.They stain football!!! pic.twitter.com/bNBSYNUDOQ

At least 20 dead and 22 injured in Querétaro
It’s not football. That is crime.
What happened today in Mexico is terrible, unfortunate and inadmissible. All those responsible for what happened must be punished. #LigaBBVAMX#LigaMx #Assassins #Fifa #Qatar pic.twitter.com/pUaabQP8WG

FIFA should betate any FOOTBALL activity that has to do with Mexico in both national and international competitions, including leaving Mexico out of a place in the World Cup, so that the fans understand that a fucking game cannot become A SLAUGHTERHOUSE.

If FIFA threatened to take away points from Mexico in the tie and that their games would go behind closed doors with the theme of the homophobic cry, with what happened in Queretaro, FIFA does or does have to take away the organization of the 2026 World Cup from Mexico.

What I could see in a video about the situation in the Querétaro game is Dantesque, I saw how an animal goes to a soccer field to undress and kill a person, as if it were a prison coliseum, Mexican soccer is stained by FIFA must eliminate drug trafficking. pic.twitter.com/r3l7cVuBmx

What is clear is that, on the one hand, the community has spoken out and the fans themselves are demanding severe punishment for the brutal violence that took place yesterday.
So far, it is not known what the sanctions will be that will come with this fact, although, for now, the matches for the rest of day 9 have been suspended and a strong decision is expected for Querétaro.
Undoubtedly, what has shaken the Mexican soccer authorities the most are the images of families fleeing fearful of the blows that, however, did not stop, in addition to the fact that the presence of the police is not seen on television broadcasts to stop the campaign.
