36 years have passed since The Legend of Zelda invaded our homes there and Nintendo created one of its most mythical franchises. how to forget to Link picking up his sword for the first time to face the dangers that awaited him in that unforgettable 8-bit map.
If we add a LEGO lover to such a legendary video game, we already have the perfect combination. Ian Roosma has shaped the entire map of the first NES Zelda, simulating each of the pixels that populate his world. Altogether he has needed 25,000 blocks to make it happen.
Through Kotaku, Roosma has explained what has led him to create this project. For him, The Legend of Zelda from 1986 is a work that has marked him deeply:
“I was looking for something that had personal meaning for me. Zelda for the NES is particularly nostalgic for me because it was the beginning of open world gaming for me. The developer just drops the player off somewhere and you decide where you want to go.” and what do you want to do, it’s the best kind of game.”
Looking to fill a large space in one of the walls of his house, Roosma has used Bricklink, a website that allows you to buy specific pieces to shape your own constructions. In total we have 493 enemies, 2,779 trees and some measures of 76 centimeters high by 2.17 meters wide. Almost nothing.
“I have no plans for another build epic, but I’m always thinking about what could be built with LEGO that would have personal meaning for me,” Ian explains of a future project. Either way, we’ll keep an eye out.
