After the Los Angeles Times announced that Walt Disney Co. “is selling the FoxNext video game studio in the latest example of the cutting assets of the Burbank entertainment company it acquired from 21st Century Fox,” there is more news to do with Marvel, but not negative.
The Times reported on its website that Disney is selling FoxNext Games Los Angeles, known for titles including the mobile game “Marvel Strike Force,” to the Culver City game maker Scopely, the companies said on Wednesday. Scopely is also buying Disney’s San Jose gaming affiliate Cold Iron Studios.
They also point out that Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, co-writers and co-directors of the first installment, will not be part of this new project, although Marvel Studios has indicated that they do not rule out their being used in future projects.
Nothing is known about the history of this sequel yet, but what is clear is that it will be set in the nineties until today. In addition to keeping its protagonist, Oscar winner Brie Larson, there are no details on the cast that will accompany her.
This film is expected to hit the big screen in 2022 and continue its success achieved in the first installment with which it grossed $ 1.1 billion worldwide thanks to being the first film in the franchise to focus on the story of a woman.
DC had already done it with Wonder Woman and its protagonist Gal Gadot.
