Many were surprised by the arrival of a great update to Bioshock: The Collection these days. An update that allowed the fabulous Irrational Games shooter to be adapted to the most powerful hardware of the moment. And it is that the Bioshock Collection, which includes the three titles of the trilogy, was released a long time ago and it was not given that support beyond the remastering itself. Now, more than remastered, the game adds new improvements in resolution and performance issues. It was expected that a video would be published in which they analyze and compare the performance of Bioshock after its update to Xbox One X and Playstation 4 Pro.
From VTech , we have proceeded to make direct gameplay that exposes the updated version of Bioshock running on version 1.0.0.5 of Xbox and 1.03 of Playstation. It is these versions that have included those improvements that allow you to add higher resolution and optimize your gameplay at 60fps.
And from there, while you can see that solid performance has been achieved at 60fps, it is about clarifying how they have managed to adapt the game to a new resolution. In the case of Xbox One X, as announced, the game plays at 4K, that is, a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels, being its native resolution. To obtain this same performance, the PlayStation 4 Pro version uses rescaling, being natively executed at 1440p (2560 × 1440) and rescaling at 2160p.
The original game has never looked so spectacular on consoles, having adapted brilliantly and giving a very stable experience at 60fps. An example that is transferred to the rest of the titles in the saga in a large patch that allows reaching new milestones and enjoying a more current form of these jewels from the Xbox One catalog. Both Bioshock, Bioshock 2 and Bioshock Infinite, now appear as games improved on Xbox One X.
It is a good time to enjoy this game, although surely many who have taken advantage of a promotion in the Offers with Gold, will be able to enjoy it directly with these improvements. Currently, it does not adhere to any promotion, but it can be a matter of weeks that Bioshock The Collection can be part of the Offers with Gold again or, better yet, that it can be a new addition to the Xbox Game Pass catalog.
