A user narrated his experience as a guest at the Crown Paradise hotel in Cancun, assuring that he was discriminated against for wearing a sleeveless shirt.
Given this response and that he was denied access to the place because of his clothing, he created the publication to denounce the hotel company for discrimination before Conapred.
In Mexico, the body in charge of registering and resolving this type of complaint is the National Council to Prevent Discrimination (Conapred).
Social networks, especially Twitter, have become the favorite tool for people to denounce. On these platforms, consumers feel free to comment on the bad experience they have with the brands they are clients of; as is the case of an Internet user accused Crown Paradise in Cancun for discriminating against him by wearing a sleeveless shirt.
Consumers today are unforgiving of brands that fail to deliver on their promises of value, good customer service, and discriminate against their customers for failing to meet what they consider to be “an adequate standard.” The latter has become very recurrent among consumer complaints for brands, and can affect the digital pulse or public opinion, damaging the vision of that company in the future issues of users.
In Mexico, the body in charge of registering and resolving this type of complaint is the National Council to Prevent Discrimination (Conapred). This State entity is the governing institution that seeks to promote certain policies or measures that contribute to cultural and social development, guaranteeing the right to equality as the first of the fundamental rights established in the Constitution.
José Luis Gutiérrez Espíndola, deputy general director of Linkage, Educational Programs and Dissemination of Conapred mentioned that “discriminating leaves a mark is a phrase that sums up very well what happens with the phenomenon of discrimination because suffering an act of discrimination can mark a a person for life.”
Crown Paradise accused of discriminating against men
Through the social network Twitter, a user identified as @KristianRocK narrates his experience as a guest at the Crown Paradise hotel in Cancun, claiming that he was discriminated against for wearing a sleeveless shirt.
The Internet user shared in his publication the complaint he made in the hotel report, indicating that he was denied access to one of the site’s restaurants for wearing a sleeveless shirt and when he claimed that he had the right to enjoy the place because he was a guest and the payment for that service, the manager argued that “They don’t let men wear sleeveless shirts, but women do because they shave.”
Given this response and that he was denied access to the place because of his clothing, he created the publication to denounce the hotel company for discrimination before Conapred. Likewise, the Internet user shared the report he registered at the hotel and an image of how he was dressed that day.
He says @CrownParadise #Cancun that @COFEPRIS He doesn’t let men wear sleeveless shirts but women do because they do shave their armpits.

Nowadays, the hotel’s customer service Twitter account has not responded to the consumer’s complaint.
This only reflects the opinion of the consumer and the conversation that it generates in the digital pulse, Therefore, Merca 2.0 requested the position of the brand in order to tell both versions of the story; however, so far it has not been received. The note will be updated in case of a response.
