Over the last few years, the internet has positioned itself as a powerful tool that is being used by more and more people. Thanks to that, social networks have now gained ground. To date there are more than four billion people who use them frequently, which represents just over half of the world’s population. In some cases they are used as a means of entertainment but they can also be utility at the professional level.
Doctors and internet
With the above in mind, Doctoralia, the leading global platform that connects healthcare professionals with patients, conducted a study. 10,013 doctors from Mexico, Brazil, Italy, Spain and Poland participated in the work. The objective was to know their habits with respect to the internet and how they take advantage of it.
When asked how often they search for health topics on the internet, 40% of the Mexican respondents answered that they do so annually and 26% do so monthly. Those who are more assiduous to these searches are Brazilians because 28% stated that they do it daily.
They were also asked what kind of internet pages look for health topics. In Mexico, 22% visit platforms such as Doctoralia and 18% are inclined towards social networks, being the country that uses them the most. While Poland declared to be the largest user of health platforms, with 32%.
Another issue to consider was communication with doctors, so they were questioned in which social networks health professionals should be present in the future. 30% of Mexicans responded that Facebook and 24% opted for Instagram, leaving YouTube in third place with 21%. It is not surprising the presence of Instagram, a social network that has experienced growth in the world and in Mexico it is the third in preferences, according to data from Statista.
Likewise, in response to how they think health services will be in the future, 63% of respondents from Mexico said that they will be up-to-date with the most recent findings in medicine and 27% believe that technology will be used to improve the healthcare experience. patient.
This is an indicator that online health services were an upward trend that the pandemic accelerated. There are more and more digital patients of all ages, while physicians seek greater visibility. The results of this survey reinforce this trend.
