According to Jez Corden, a journalist for Windows CenterMicrosoft had long had the idea of making an Xbox Game Pass family plan, but considerations had to be resolved regarding licenses and distribution rights of some third-party games and how they would be compensated by those users not necessarily tied to an individual subscription plan, but family. In any case, it seems that those from Redmond would have solved this setback and would already be working on an Xbox Game Pass family plan that would arrive this year.
In the absence of an official announcement, Corden estimates that this Xbox Game Pass family plan could bring together five players and would give access to the entire service catalog with considerable savings at the end of the year regarding the individual subscription. This plan would be managed by the Microsoft family account system which is already used in services like Office 365.
Xbox Game Pass more accessible than ever
There are still some doubts to be resolved, such as whether there will be a separate family plan for PC Game Pass or this option will be exclusive to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate modality (it allows you to play both on Xbox and PC, but it is more expensive). At the moment there is no estimated date of when it could be presented, but it is estimated that it will happen in the “near future”. If this family plan becomes a reality, it would be another notable difference between Xbox Game Pass and Sony’s new PlayStation plus, a service that will have three categories of content, but not a family plan. At least still.
