One of the most popular design trends we’ve seen so far in 2020 is adding ever larger camera modules to the backs of phones. It is a fashion that although in some cases is very useful, there are others where it is absurd and is done entirely for aesthetics, as in the case of the Google Pixel 4a, which only has a rear camera. The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra at the moment takes the award for the largest camera module on the market, although the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro Plus will take that position away and also, in abundance.
More than 25% of the back of the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro Plus will be its cameras
The information that we bring you is based on a leak published by the Playfuldroid medium in which you can see the photograph of a case of the supposed Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro Plus. At first, what stands out without a doubt is the huge hole dedicated to the camera module of this phone, which literally occupies more than a quarter of the entire back of the phone. It can be seen that this hole reaches at least half the total height of the cover and that it exceeds more than half the width of the cover.
Also, right on the edge of this huge hole, we can read a screenprint that says “100X INFINITY ZOOM”, a clear reference to a 100x zoom, like the one we already saw on the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra and which turned out to be a maneuver marketing more than something really useful. At the bottom of the case you can see the Xiaomi logo. According to the media that has published this leak, the case belongs to the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro Plus, but can not confirm that it is 100% true, so you always have to keep a margin of doubt before giving it completely true, but the photograph appears to be legitimate.
In recent months we have seen how Xiaomi puts special emphasis on the cameras of its phones, such as the Mi Note 10, a mobile with 5 rear cameras and that released the 108 megapixel sensor, so it would not surprise us to get to see a phone with a new and aggressive photographic strategy as shown in this photo, although it is really absurd in design matters . In the end it seems that the meme will come true and we will end up with phones with the entire back formed by cameras.
Do you think it makes sense to keep increasing the number of cameras on a mobile?
