In the absence of electric cars of greater performance and size at a reduced price, the range of micro cars is being completed with one more offer, the XEV YOYO. This urban vehicle is already marketed by Elecmobility in Spain and Portugal.
Today a new electric vehicle was presented in Madrid to complement the mobility ecosystem of cities, the XEV YOYO. Is a model two-seater that reminds us almost in equal parts of the discontinued Renault Twizy and the smart fortwo, designed from the ground up to be electric. The only version for sale is a light quad (L7e) and requires the driving license B.
The YOYO has a conception very similar to the Silence S04, since it measures 2.53 meters long and 1.5 meters wide, so it is a little longer and somewhat narrower than the Spanish model. The Silence S04 does offer a limited version to be able to drive with the AM license (“without license”) from the age of 15.
One of the most obvious advantages of the YOYO is its ridiculous consumption of electricity, 7.4 kWh per 100 kilometers, which can be half that of a B-segment electric car homologated as a passenger car. Part of the explanation is trivial, barely weighs more than half a ton including batteries, three units of 24 kg each.
One of its peculiar characteristics is that it can be manufactured with 3D technology, at least part of its aesthetic function parts, which makes it easy to customize the car. The manufacturer says that this way of producing is more environmentally friendly. The factory of origin is not mentioned.
The color range consists of nine options, of which only white avoids the exterior bi-color, the rest of the combinations have an exterior contrast color, and Prototype Gray is tritone. Inside there is always a contrasting color compared to black.
Taking a quick look at its technical specifications, it offers a autonomy of 150 kilometers thanks to its fireproof lithium ferrophosphate (LiFePO4) batteries and 10.3 kWh capacity. Of course, the benefits are discreet: 15 kW / 20 CV of maximum power, 32 Nm of torque and a maximum speed of 90 km / h, so it can roll on the highway.
Although its batteries can be recharged in 3 hours, it is also designed for a quick exchange from the same. In its home market, Italy, exchanges will be possible at ENI service stations, and the Spanish distributor intends to offer a similar service.
This feature is fundamentally interesting for professional users and fleets of carsharing, since in a quick operation you can have a fully charged YOYO without having to plug it in or have to move it from the site. For individuals, operations are more complex outside of large cities.
Among its equipment items we find keys “Keyless”, LED daytime running lights, radio with Bluetooth, three USB ports, panoramic roof, air conditioning, disc brakes with ABS, electric windows, charging cables, seat belt fastening warning, 7 or 10 “multifunction display, etc.
Regarding its level of safety, the manufacturer declares that it has a reinforced cabin against side, frontal and overturning impacts with high speed steel (HSS) protection bars. This material is a complex iron-based alloy of carbon, chromium, vanadium, molybdenum, or tungsten, and sometimes cobalt. It complies with European regulations, obviously.
All of this is offered at a price of 12,690 euros without aid, including VAT. In the case of being accepted into the MOVES Plan, individuals and freelancers who deliver a vehicle for displacement benefit from an amount of 2,000 euros, so it remains at 10,690 euros. It is an amount to finance (separate costs), if not, the RRP increases by 1,000 euros.
How much do you keep financing it? They do not ask for entry, the formalization commission is 3.5% (487.99 euros), and you can request an optional payment protection insurance of 1,252.50 euros. At 59 installments of 299.48 euros and a final installment of 299.72 it would cost 17,969 euros in total with Cetelem.
