China and India are the two most populous countries: they have almost 36% of the world’s population between them.
Nevertheless, There is currently no consensus on the amount of the world’s population that owns digital assets such as cryptocurrencies, and estimates vary.
market research company GWI suggests that up to 10.2% already own cryptocurrency, with the bulk of ownership leaning towards nations experiencing high inflation or fluctuation in the value of their national fiat currency.
The blockchain company Singapore-based TripleA estimated that by 2022 the global cryptocurrency ownership rate will be around 4.2%, or more than 320 million cryptocurrency users worldwide. He reported that the United States was in the lead, with 46 million crypto holders, followed by India, Pakistan, and Nigeria.
In June, Blockware Intelligence predicted that bitcoin adoption alone will reach 10% worldwide by 2030, as Cointelegraph reported earlier this year.
At the beginning of this year, Chainalysis ranked 146 countries across five categories in its 2022 Global Cryptocurrency Adoption Index. It found that Vietnam led the pack in terms of global adoption rates, followed by the Philippines, India, Ukraine, and the United States. However, the report did not suggest actual ownership figures.
Nevertheless, China remains a country where it is difficult to determine the level of cryptocurrency ownership. It is understood that a large part of the population of the world’s most populous country is tech-savvy and hungry for cryptocurrency.
However, the ruling regime has other ideas at the moment.. Exact figures on ownership of cryptocurrencies are not available.
Cryptocurrency adoption will inevitably continue to grow across the planetso we will say goodbye with a “happy birthday, global citizen number 8,000,000,000”.
