We recently learned about CD Projekt RED’s future plans, including a new The Witcher, an expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 and a single player game for Gwent, the card game born from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Rumors suggested that it would arrive in 2022, but now we have learned more. And it’s not good news. And it is that the The Witcher’s new Gwent game won’t come to consolesas has made known the IGN portal. The leader of the Gwent community, Pawel Burza, has confirmed that the title now known as Project Golden Nekker will arrive later this year on PC, Android and iOS.
Later, the director of the game, Vladimir Tortsov, has recognized that, in addition, right now there are no plans to bring this game to consoles. “We left the consoles for a reason. There was obviously good stuff in them, otherwise we wouldn’t have released on consoles in the first place. But for games as a service with frequent updates it was a very rough experience. In general, although we are not there yet, we do not plan to take none of our spin-offs to consoles right now,” he commented on a Gwent game that will offer a “captivating single-player experience” away from the multiplayer formula of the main game.
Imagining what the new The Witcher will be like
CD Projekt stopped supporting the console versions of Gwent: The Witcher Card Game in 2020although the adventure of Gwent throne breaker it did reach domestic platforms. According to Tortsov’s words, this new vision of the Polish company will not only apply to Project Golden Nekker, but future Gwent games will not appear on consoles either, and their presence will be reduced to PC and mobile devices.
